Voice
Voice disorders include hoarseness, breathiness and diplophonia, including nodules, edema and paralysis.
We perform evaluation and treatment at our office with mirror exam, Stroboscopic Video Laryngoscopy using the Kay/Pentax system and when necessary, referral to local speech pathologists.
If speech therapy fails to resolve the problem or a biopsy is in order, we perform micro-direct laryngoscopy under general anesthesia utilizing jet ventilation to allow the best vocal cord view.
If the vocal cords are weak due to paralysis or aging (presbycusis), augmentation may be undertaken with Radiesse, a long-acting injectable implant.
