Snoring Work-Up
|
|
From snoring as initial symptom, we will do an exam
after taking a history of the problem.
If suspicion is high for obstruction in the oral-pharyngeal
airways, we order oximetry, either a screening home study or a full
polysomnogram (PSG). Depending on outcome of this test, a CPAP trial may be
necessary to normalize the physiology.
If low suspicion exists for lower obstruction, we will
proceed to rhinomanometry to assess nasal obstruction.
Final decisions are based on this decision tree and outcomes
of testing, as to whether Somnoplasty to the turbinates, palate or tongue would possible
be helpful.
