Respirators and Masks for Flu -047

Influenza is a viral illness.

Cough and fever occur with flu as well as bacterial illnesses.

In the OR, we use surgical masks.

For respiratory disease protection, these were not felt to be enough and a N95 respirator is used.

A recent study shows that the regular mask does protect, and is much less expensive and more available.
